Our Management and Research Team

Duc Rodney HathawayDuc Rodney Hathaway, CFA is the president of Hathaway-Nguyen Capital Management, Inc. He was a Vietnamese citizen at birth, born in Saigon, South Vietnam in 1968. His family emigrated to the U.S. in 1971. He is currently a U.S. citizen. Due to his ethnic origin and ties to Vietnam, Mr. Hathaway has a keen understanding of the cultural values and business traditions of the country, in addition to a professional network of contacts. He has 15 years of experience as an investment professional in the U.S. and has spent the last 10 years with Heartland Advisors, Inc., a nationally recognized firm based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. For the last 6 years, Mr. Hathaway has been the lead manager of the Heartland Value Plus Fund, a $300M fund focused on U.S. small cap equities. During his tenure managing the fund, Mr. Hathaway conducted hands-on research on many small and microcap companies. This same approach will be utilized in analyzing Vietnamese companies. Mr. Hathaway earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (cum laude) and his M.B.A. degree from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Milwaukee.

Terence PavlicTerence V. Pavlic, CFA is a principal of the firm. He has worked in the investment management industry for 21 years and has a diverse professional background, including president and founder of Pavlic Investment Advisors, Inc., vice president and manager of a $600M mutual fund at Banc One Investment Advisors which is now JP Morgan/Chase, senior investment officer of the trust and investment management division at First Wisconsin Trust Co. which is now U.S. Bancorp, research analyst, and principal and portfolio manager for a "boutique" investment advisor. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and his M.B.A. degree in Finance from DePaul University, Chicago, Illinois. He has been an active member of the CFA Institute, a past member of its Board of Governors and past president of the CFA Society of Milwaukee. He was also a lecturer in the undergraduate business school program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and has been listed in Who's Who In The Midwest. Mr. Pavlic has involved himself in several community organizations. He was class chair for the Marquette University Alumni Union Fund Drive. He has been an active volunteer of the American Lung Association of Wisconsin and served on its Board of Directors.

Ly NguyenLy Nguyen earned a B.S. degree (double major in International Business and Marketing) and an M.B.A with a specialization in finance from Marquette University. Throughout her academic career, she has won a number of awards and was co-founder of the International Club at the University of Wisconsin-Marinette. She is a member of Delta Sigma Pi and speaks three languages fluently (French, Vietnamese and English). Ly is a native of Hanoi, Vietnam and will be working in our Delafield, Wisconsin offices.

Nghia NguyenNghia D. Nguyen earned his bachelor’s degree in economics at the University of Economics of Ho Chi Minh City. Over the last 15 years he has worked in various managerial positions in the hotel and property management industry, which included 3 years in Dubai, UAE. During his career, he has honed his analytical skills in assessing various business issues in the leisure and entertainment industry in Vietnam. He is fluent in Vietnamese, English and Russian.
